Oasis Academy John Williams is delighted to announce a fantastic set of results for its 2018 Year 11 GCSE students.

  • 59% achieved a Pass [Grade 4+] in both Maths and English
  • 35% achieved a Strong Pass [Grade 5+] in both Maths and English

This year saw the large majority of subjects move to the ‘reformed’ GCSE specifications, which boast tougher and more rigorous assessments, with students now receiving grades 9-1 as opposed to A*-G.  Principal, Victoria Boomer-Clark, is delighted that the effort and hard work exerted by the students of John Williams has translated into wonderful achievements;

“This exam season has been incredibly challenging for our young people, with a significant increase in both the number of exam papers being taken and in the depth and rigour within each exam.  Our students were very well prepared for the exams and should be extremely proud of their achievements.  The support they received from friends, family and our committed, talented and caring staff team enabled them to thrive throughout the entire process.  I am so proud of each and every single year 11 student.”

The results at John Williams are strong across the large majority of subjects, with 10 different subjects having students achieve the highest grade of a 9.

“The progress made by our learners in subjects this year, along with the fact that 10 subjects had students achieving Grade 9s, demonstrates that the staff team at John Williams have the knowledge and expertise to guide and support young people to be able to achieve the very highest grades in their GCSEs, grades only awarded to the top 2% in each subject”

The school has performed very well in the majority of subjects. English, Science and Spanish have seen significant improvement in outcomes, whilst Maths, Art, Food & Nutrition and Drama have sustained their success of recent years.  There are many individual student success stories, including the achievements of our 5 highest performers, who between them were awarded 36 Grade 7-9s

Victoria Boomer-Clark said: “We are delighted for our students and immensely proud of their achievements. Our results are proof of how determined our students are to progress and how our staff and families work together to enable all of our young people to thrive in both learning and life.  I am looking forward to hearing of the successes of our students in the next exciting phase of their lives.  It has been an absolute pleasure and honour to work with them all over the course of the last 5 years.”
