SHAPE

Our SHAPE strategy is a really important to Oasis Academy John Williams: it is central to everything we do. It is a way of framing our verbal answers, our discussions, and our interactions. It also helps us with our written work. 

Why is it important? 

It was designed to support students to: 

  • Articulate themselves with confidence. 

  • Develop skills required for discussions. 

  • Build confidence to talk to new people. 

  • Build skills needed in formal settings like interviews. 

What is it? 

Students are routinely asked to “SHAPE” their answers and discussions in order to develop the habits that develop their oracy skills. Using the SHAPE strategy builds the skills needed for students to be successful in life. It enables students to frame their answers to questions, talk to friends, and talk to adults with confidence. It equips them for success and prepares them for life after school.
