The Dark Angels, who are based at the Academy, just missed getting the world title. They performed over two days at the Epcot Centre in Florida, but were beaten in the final by a mere 0.1 of a point by Texan group, Alpha Cheer and Dance. Despite missing out, the team won two more trophies: the USASF Dance Worlds 2nd Place and the Nation's Cup for scoring the most points over the weekend.
Charlie Bedford, Choreographer and a Dance Teacher at the Academy, was named Best International Choreographer for his work over the last year.
The competition was split over two days and the Dark Angels were leading the competition by the end of the first day. Unfortunately, at the performance on the second day, they were beaten into second place.
Charlie Bedford said "We all did so well and it was so close, but it was just one of those things. The team who won was stunned, as they didn't think they had beaten us, but on the day it is the judges' decision".
